Hutto Texas

Hutto is a small community located in eastern Williamson county and just northeast of Austin, Texas. But it is only small for now. Best described as "economically vibrant" it is experiencing tremendous growth due to being situated so close to Austin and Round Rock, both being boom towns.

Hutto began expanding when Austin burst it's seams. Many Austin residents and new comers to the area looked for an escape from high city taxes and crime. They wanted a more safe and serene place to live. Also, a more affordable place conducive to starting and raising a family.

Hutto has grown from approximately 600 citizens in 1990 to more than 18,000 in 2004 and looking to be 30,000 strong by 2010. Hutto has become very attractive to small and mid-sized companies and the affordable costs have made it a boom area. All of this is in stark contrast to Hutto's sleepy image maintained since it's founding in the mid-1800's. Populated originally by Swedish and German immigrants, it was forged when Indians still occupied the region.

The town was named after James Emory Hutto, who donated 50 acres of land for the original Hutto train station to accommodate the International and Great Northern Railroad that was laying track.

Hutto has survived storms and fires that destroyed the eastern portion. Many of the old buildings still stand in the western half and serve as it's official historic district.

In the city itself and just outside it's limits, there are almost 20 housing developments underway. Builders have created their own storm of development and homes sell quickly.

All of this activity would make one think that the little town would drown in it's own growth but recently Hutto received an award at the Texas Municipal League Annual Conference and Exhibition for the 2007 Municipal Excellence award for cities of less than 25,000 because of it's Organizational Development Plan. Hutto has managed it's growth very well and has proven to be an excellent choice for families to move to and grow in. Because of it's business and economic growth many of it's citizens work right in Hutto. Because of the new 130 corridor highway system, it has also become an easy commute into Austin and it is just a short hop into the high-tech employment in Round Rock.

If you think Hutto might be right for you and your family, give us a call.. we would love to help you realize your dream of a healthy and vibrant lifestyle in one of the fastest growing little cities in Texas...and remember, for us, it's personal...every time!

Thanks,

Esta and John Ingle, Realtors®
